I know this connection from my own life. From a very young age, I struggled with painful, heavy periods and PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome). Over the years, I lost more than 20 kilograms and made my metabolic health a priority. Along the way, my cycle and my reproductive symptoms improved, and eventually resolved. Every woman’s path is different, but my own body showed me what medicine is only beginning to write into its guidelines.
During my clinical training, I met many women with PCOS/PMOS, PMS, ovarian cysts or endometriosis who had surgery after surgery, without anyone looking at their hormonal and metabolic health. While surgery might be necessary in certain cases, it should not be the only option for women. Research simply moves faster than guidelines, and the link between hormones and metabolism is still being uncovered.
That link is exactly what I research in my PhD. In my consultations, I bring research and clinical practice together: a careful look at your hormones and your metabolism, cycle tracking if you wish, and support alongside or before fertility treatment.
My role is to give you the knowledge to choose what is right for you.
